When Vitsoe, makers of iconic minimal-modernist furniture, decided to build a new HQ, it was always going to be something special.
The client’s brief was to create a new HQ that would be a physical projection of its ‘system-thinking’ approach. This focuses on products that are flexible, modular and can be combined to form larger systems, which is one of the founding principles of Vitsoe.
The result was an economical, strong, yet elegant sawtooth roof-form that maximised indirect light, using banks of VELUX Northlights.
VELUX Northlights were chosen because they:
- are a fully prefabricated system
- have elegant profiles and slim sightlines
- are supplied with a 10-year guarantee
The defining characteristic of this impressive structure is that it creates a space where people enjoy working, a place where they flourish and, crucially, are more productive. Exposing the Vitsoe workforce to changing temperatures and day length through extensive use of VELUX modular skylights also addresses important health and productivity issues such as seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
