Products details

  • In short

Atrium Longlight and Ridgelight solutions enable great daylight design in buildings with large, open atriums.

Modular Skylights enable fast and intuitive design when multiple rows are simply put together to cover the atrium – big or small.

For maximum daylight, we recommend either mono-pitched Longlights installed at low angle or Ridgelights at 5° with beams.

For optimum thermal comfort, we recommend Ridgelights 25-40° with venting modules.

For Ridgelights 25-40°, optional gable modules can be supplied with different types of glass or infill panels, depending on the visual expression you want to achieve with the installation.

The rooflights are connected via drainage gutters and supported by structural beams. The beams also serve as support for the sub-construction used for mounting the skylight modules.

Modular Skylights are delivered with a 10-year guarantee on modules and flashings.

VELUX skylight specialists offer support throughout design, specification and installation, including design of structural beams and drainage gutters. Please note that the structural beams, drainage gutters and sub-constructions are not included in the VELUX delivery.

    Warning triangle

VELUX comfort venting Modular Skylights meet the requirements of the harmonised standard EN 60335-2-103 (2015). Therefore, comfort venting skylights can be installed within reach, i.e. at installation heights below 2.5 m above floor level (inside) and ground level (outside). We recommend that you observe national regulations and consider if the planned specific use of the building requires additional safety measures that must be applied by the installer/user to prevent serious injury. For more details and information on smoke venting Modular Skylights, please refer to the Technical Handbook and the safety guidelines delivered with each product. If VELUX roller blinds are installed, please observe recommendations.

  • Details

Modular Skylight system is a turnkey solution comprising prefabricated skylight modules with dedicated claddings, flashings and vapour barrier connection strip to allow for design of watertight rooflight and glass roof structures.

Comfort ventilation is possible via an integrated chain actuator that can be controlled with VELUX INTEGRA® system or with your preferred building management system. Smoke ventilation can only be controlled with your preferred building management system.

For optimal daylight and heat control consider internal roller blinds that can be pre-mounted from the factory.

    Pre-fabricated VELUX Modular Skylights

Prefabricated Modular Skylights from VELUX come with perfectly matching cladding, flashing and roller blinds.

  • Glazing

Modular Skylights come with standard low-energy double or triple glazing with the following features:

    • Insulated glazing (Ug values down to 0.5 W/m²K)
    • Toughened outer glass
    • Laminated inner safety glass
    • Falling through safety
    • Sound insulation (traffic, rain and hail)
    • Warm edge spacer (protects insulation properties over time and minimizes the risk of condensation at pane edges)
    • Step pane (leads water off the unit)
    • Sun protection coating (optional)
Glazing units for VELUX modular skylights

All glazing units come with step glass on the outer side to ensure water tightness (class E1200, EN 12208:2000).

  • Performance

The Modular Skylight profiles (sash and frame) are made of pultruded fiberglass (80%) and polyurethane composite (20%). The composite material provides high insulation performance and thermal stability as well as excellent profile stiffness and bending strength.

Due to the concept of prefabrication, we are able to test our products extensively against all thinkable hazards and stressful events. Tests are performed in controlled environments in accordance with harmonized standards for both Windows and doors and for Smoke and Heat control systems.
Pre-fabricated VELUX modular skylights come with low energy glazing units to achieve low overall U-value

In combination with low energy glazing units, the Modular Skyligths are able to achieve one of the lowest overall U-values for frame and glazing assembly in the skylight market (Uw values down to 0.86 W(m2/K)).

  • Additional solutions

    Create a unique skylight solution

By adapting the interior linings, the Modular Skylights can meet the demands of modern architecture featuring irregular or curved shapes, e.g. obtuse angles, acute angles or ovals.
Atrium Longlight with adaptation of the internal lining

Adaptation of the interior lining creates a slanting shape in an atrium solution made from multiple rows of Longlights.

Atrium longlight with oval internal lining

Adaptation of the interior lining creates an oval shape by means of rows of Longlights

    Asymmetrical solutions

The great flexibility of Modular Skylights enables design of asymmetrical atrium solutions.
Ridgelight and asymmetrical Ridgelight solutions combined, installed between roof sections of varying height.

By combining Ridgelight modules of different heights, you can create an asymmetrical glass roof solution. The Ridgelight solution can be installed between roof sections of varying height. This solution is not a standard solution, project specific evaluation needed.

    Combining solutions

Combining different types of modules creates beautiful solutions that optimize comfort and ventilation. Let us help you find the right solution for your next design idea.
