Linearlight fixed and/or venting is a unique solution that by placing modules side by side form a continuous system without the need for additional support. The solution consists of pure fixed modules, pure venting modules or a combination of both, based on customer wishes.

The upstand with advanced connector system and drainage gutter ensures a watertight and airtight connection between the modules. A minimized beam ensures a beautiful connection on the inside.

Modular Rooflight modules are supported by a 10-year guarantee. Actuators and other electrical components that are part of the modular system come with a three-year guarantee.

VELUX Commercial specialists can offer support throughout design, specification and installation.

Based on customer requirements a static calculation on snow and windload will be made by VELUX Commercial for each building situation.

Triple roof window design with three rectangular panes in a sturdy frame.
Linearlight fixed
Linearlight fixed is available in a burglary-resistant version according to EN 1627:2011 and NEN 5096-2012+A1:2015: Class 2 (RC 2).

Frequently asked questions

What benefits does Linearlight offer in terms of daylight distribution for large interior spaces like atriums, corridors, or production areas?

Linearlight is designed to create wide, uninterrupted daylight sources, which is ideal for these types of spaces. This installation uses an advanced connector system that allows for larger bands of natural light without the need for additional support. This means that the light incidence is maximized because the light area is equal to the roof opening, ensuring full utilization of the opening without intrusive framing blocking daylight. This makes Linearlight particularly suitable for creating continuous bands of natural light, providing consistent daylight distribution across large open spaces.

How can the use of Linearlight rooflights contribute to meeting sustainability or energy efficiency targets (e.g., BREEAM, LEED)?

Linearlight contributes to sustainability goals through:

What design flexibility does Linearlight offer in terms of module length, layout, and aesthetic integration with modern architecture?

Linearlight offers extensive design flexibility, making it ideal for seamless integration with modern architecture. Its made-to-measure modules can be configured to the millimeter, with widths ranging from 250 to 3000 mm and lengths from 250 to 2000 mm, depending on the module type. Upstand heights are also customizable, from 150 to 600 mm. It is available in both fixed and venting versions. A wide range of glazing options is offered, including double and triple glazing with various coatings to suit performance and aesthetic needs. Importantly, there is no visual difference between fixed and venting modules when closed, preserving a uniform appearance.

How does Linearlight perform under extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain, snow loads, or high UV exposure?

Linearlight has impressive performance ratings for various weather conditions:

  • Resistance to wind load: Class C3.
  • Watertightness: Class E1200 (tested to withstand water pressure equivalent to 1200 Pa).
  • Air permeability: Class 4 (highest class)..
  • An optional snow gasket can be post-mounted to prevent snow from getting between the modules.
  • The glazing includes UV protection through the silk screen print around the edges.

Are ventilation options available with Linearlight (e.g., motorized units)?

Yes, ventilation options are available with Linearlight. The venting version includes motorized openings through chain actuators that are fully integrated in the wooden upstand. These modules can be controlled by either VELUX io-homecontrol® or Open System ±24V (OS ±24V DC) control system.

How is Linearlight different from Modular Skylight installations?

Linearlight is a lean, linear solution for flat roofs, ideal for fast retrofits or targeted daylighting, whereas VELUX Modular Skylights offer scalable, architectural flexibility for larger or more complex daylighting needs.

Key differences:

  1. Application & Design Focus
Linearlight is designed for rooflight installations in flat roofs, creating long, narrow strips of daylight.
Modular Skylights are intended for larger roof glazing systems, often in more complex solution types or spans.
  2. Installation Context
Linearlight is ideal for corridors, narrow rooms, or hallways in flat-roofed buildings.
Modular Skylights are typically used in large atriums or open-plan areas, where bigger daylight areas or multiple modules are needed.
  3. Configuration options
Linearlight uses smaller, factory-assembled units configured in a linear series.
Modular Skylights offer a broader range of configurations (e.g., ridge, gable, wall-mounted) with larger module options and complex joining capabilities.
  4. Target Use Case
Linearlight is often specified in smaller-scale commercial renovations or retrofits.
Modular Skylights are typically used in new builds or large-scale daylight design projects.
