Product details

In short

A Wall-mounted Longlight is a row of modules mounted against a vertical wall at the top of the modules. A wall height of maximum 3 m above the Wall-mounted Longlight is possible.

Wall-mounted Longlights bring light further into a building when installed in a building extension. Wall-mounted Longlights also permit the joining of different ceiling heights and can be used to connect adjacent buildings. When installed at up to 45°, the Wall-mounted Longlights add vertical space to the room.

Optional gable modules can be supplied with different types of glass or infill panels, depending on the visual expression you want to achieve with the installation.

VELUX skylight specialists offer support throughout design, specification and installation, including design of the sub-construction needed for installation.

Frequently asked questions

How does the installation process differ for a Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° compared to traditional skylights?

The Wall-mounted Longlight is installed against a vertical wall with a special wall connection detail. It uses a standard steel profile (100 mm wide) at the wall for mounting using the clamping system for easy installation.

What are the aesthetic design options available for the Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° solution?

The Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° offers several aesthetic options including different interior and exterior colors. Interior frame colors include standard white (RAL 9010), with semi-standard options of light grey (RAL 7037), dark grey (RAL 7021), and black (RAL 9005). Exterior cladding and flashing have similar color options, and special colors can be ordered as well.

How does the Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° handle condensation and moisture control?

VELUX Modular Skylights achieve a high watertightness rating (E1200) and air permeability (Class 4), which contribute to effective moisture control. We recommend using our BCX vapour barrier connection strip to ensure proper connection between the modules and the building's vapor barrier. This helps prevent condensation within the sub-construction. The relative humidity of the room and also the risk of condensation can be reduced by regular ventilation, either by opening doors or windows, or by mechanical ventilation.

Can the Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° system be integrated with automatic opening and closing systems?

Yes, the Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° can incorporate venting modules. These can be operated automatically using either VELUX io-homecontrol® or an Open System solution (±24V DC) depending on functionality of comfort or smoke ventilation. The io-homecontrol® option uses wireless control pads, while the Open System can connect to building management systems via fieldbus protocols like KNX, BACnet, LON, and Modbus.

What are the insulation properties of the Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° system?

The Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° shares the same insulation properties as other VELUX Modular Skylights. With double glazing modules, it achieves U-values of 1.3-1.5 W/(m²K), while triple glazing improves this to 0.86-1.1 W/(m²K). The modules use a pultruded composite frame with excellent thermal insulation properties (lower thermal conductivity than aluminum, PVC, or wood).

Are there options to add shading or blinds to the Wall-mounted Longlight?

Yes, the Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° can be fitted with integrated roller blinds that fit perfectly into the window opening. These blinds are available in three fire-retardant fabric colors: white (RMM 8806), grey (RMM 8805), and black (RMM 8807). They can be pre-mounted from the factory to support fast and safe installation.

How does the Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° contribute to natural lighting in a space with high ceilings?

The Wall-mounted Longlight 5-45° is particularly effective for providing natural light in spaces with high ceilings. By mounting against a vertical wall, it allows daylight to enter from a higher position, creating deeper light penetration into the space. Various glazing options with different light transmittance values (up to 80% with low emissivity coating) can be selected to optimize daylight levels.

How does the Wall-mounted Longlight handle water drainage at the wall junction during heavy driving rain conditions?

VELUX Modular Skylights come with factory-finished flashings and a wall insertion component (EWC) specifically designed for the Wall-mounted Longlight. The modules achieve a watertightness rating of E1200, indicating excellent performance even in driving rain conditions up to 1200 Pa pressure.
