Key benefits:
A Longlight solution is a single row of modules that lights up hallways, corridors and large rooms with natural daylight. Multiple rows of Longlights form an ideal glass roof for large open areas, e.g. atriums. Install the Longlights to follow the interior floor plan to optimise daylight and ventilation in every corner of the room.
The modular Longlights allow fast and easy closure of the roof to reduce cost and speed up the interior works.
VELUX skylight specialists offer support throughout design, specification and installation, including design of the sub-construction needed for installation.
Create a unique skylight solution
By adapting the interior linings, the Modular Skylights can meet the demands of modern architecture featuring irregular or curved shapes, e.g. obtuse angles, acute angles or ovals.

The maximum opening width for a Longlight 5-30° roof window is 3.1 meters. This is a guideline, and the exact measurements would be supplied by your VELUX Commercial sales company. The length of the system can be extended indefinitely depending on building statics.
Proper ventilation with the Longlight 5-30° solution can be achieved by incorporating venting modules for comfort and/or smoke ventilation. These modules have chain actuators that allow for controlled opening. You can operate them using either VELUX io-homecontrol® or Open System with ±24V DC connection to your building management system, depending on your configuration.
VELUX Modular Skylights come with factory-finished flashings designed to ensure watertightness. The modules have been tested for watertightness up to 1200 Pa (equivalent to wind speeds of 155 km/h), achieving classification E1200.
Yes, it's possible to combine both systems. For example, you can use the Open System for comfort or smoke ventilation control of the actuators and io-homecontrol® for the roller blinds if you want local control of the blinds but centralized control of the venting modules.
The decision often depends on installation size, user needs, and whether smoke ventilation is required. For new construction, the wiring should be planned early in the design phase.
VELUX io-homecontrol® is best for smaller installations with few users who regularly occupy the building (small offices, residential buildings), situations where users need multiple control points, and where ease of installation is important.
Open System is best for larger installations (many skylights on different roofs), buildings with many different occupants not present regularly (airports, shopping malls, public buildings), buildings with existing HVAC or building management systems, and applications requiring smoke ventilation.
Yes, the Longlight 5-30° system is suitable for commercial buildings with large open spaces. VELUX Modular Skylights are designed for various commercial buildings including offices, schools, cultural buildings, public spaces, shopping malls, and healthcare facilities. We can provide several case studies with successful installations in large spaces.
VELUX Modular Skylights offer excellent thermal performance with U-values ranging from 1.3-1.5 W/(m²K) for double-glazing modules and as low as 0.86-1.1 W/(m²K) for triple glazing modules, which represents high-quality thermal insulation for rooflight products.
The general recommendation for all VELUX Modular Skylights is to clean them 1-2 times per year with water and ordinary household non-abrasive and non-corrosive detergents. We recommend having the modules cleaned by professionals with appropriate tools. Additionally, it's important to clear leaves and debris from flashings to ensure proper drainage of rain and melting snow.
