What is an EPD?

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) assesses the environmental impacts of a product through its entire lifecycle, and can be useful for assessing the environmental impact of the entire building.

In building assessments, construction products are assessed by Environmental Product Declarations performed in accordance with European Standard EN 15804 (CEN, 2012).

Product Manager Signe Risager discusses Environmental Product Declarations for Modular Skylights

Our prefabricated Modular Skylights include Environmental Product Declarations for double and triple glazed products.

Application in Building Rating Schemes

The Environmental Product Declarations that Modular Skylights hold makes it easier to achieve compliance with environmental building rating schemes like BREEAM, DGNB, LEED and WELL Building Standard.

Modular Skylight Materials

The main materials used in Modular Skylights with double glazing are glass (57%), composite (19%), wood (7%, used only for transportation pallets) and aluminium (7%). Modular Skylights have a reference service life of 30 years. The modules are designed for easy replacement of panes, blinds and actuators.

Profiles

The structural profiles of Modular Skylights are made of low conductive, pultruded composite, containing approximately 80% fiberglass and 20% polyurethane resin. The composite material provides high flexural strength, good insulation performance and long service life.

Glass

The Modular Skylight panes are made from virgin glass sourced from leading European glass manufacturers.

Wood and aluminium

The wood used for packaging pallets for Modular Skylights is sourced from certified, sustainable forests. The aluminium used in the skylight modules contains 50% recycled aluminium.

Re-use and replacement

Prefabrication enables re-use of modules in other buildings. The modular design of the skylights allows easy replacement of panes, motors and blinds.
